MENTAL HEALTH
The mental health services provided by the Rockbridge Area Free Clinic are a part of a collaborative partnership between the RAFC, the Alleghany Highlands Free Clinic, the Rockbridge Area Community Services and the Alleghany Highland Community Services. The mental health program, funded in part by the Virginia Health Care Foundation, aims to take underserved patients "beyond the blues" to health and wellness. RAFC began offering mental health services in May 2010 as part of this grant collaborative. The three year grant supports services at free clinics in both Rockbridge County as well as Alleghany County. "We are very grateful for this opportunity to partner with so many local organizations and businesses. A successful program will help us continue to provide these important services as part of our integrated approach to health and wellness," explained Suzanne Sheridan, director of the Rockbridge Area Free Clinic.
Services include:
-RAFC provides basic mental health services
-5 hours access to psychiatry per week
-10 hours access to counseling per week
